Garden Moments of Gratitude đŸŒ±

We can hardly believe that summer is already in full swing! ☀ Things have been moving quickly around here, and with all the summertime buzz, it can be a challenge to find moments of rest.

Last week, there were so many helpful hands in the gardens—pulling weeds, harvesting produce, surviving the heat—that taking a moment to pause, we couldn’t help but feel extra grateful for our team and for this land we have the privilege of tending as we grow food for our community. 

We hope you’re enjoying your summer so far and finding time to slow down and appreciate all the beautiful moments in between–even amid the busyness.

Produce

This week’s local, fresh harvest includes:

  • Arugula (Wasabi—peppery hot! And excellent for your favorite sashimi dishes!)

  • Baby red potatoes—limited in supply!

  • Beets—red and golden with tops!!

  • Blueberries (frozen)

  • Broccoli

  • Cabbage (Chinese, Cour Di Bue, and Green)

  • Cauliflower—first of the season!

  • Cherry Tomatoes

  • Cucumbers

  • Green bunching onions

  • Herbs— fresh basil (purple), celery, cilantro, mint, Greek and Italian oregano, parsley, rosemary, sage, thyme, and plenty of dried options available!

  • Heirloom Tomatoes—first of the season and in very limited quantities!

  • Horseradish

  • Kale (Curly, Blue Dazzling, Red Russian Lacinato, and other varieties)

  • Kohlrabi

  • Lettuce (mixed leaf and head—multiple varieties such as red buttercup, romaine, iceberg, and others)

  • Mixed Greens

  • Mushrooms—dried options this week

  • Mustard Greens

  • Peas (both Shelling and Sugar Snap)

  • Radish (several varieties)

  • Rhubarb (frozen)

  • Strawberries (frozen)

  • Summer Spinach

  • Swiss Chard

  • Turnips

  • Zucchini

As always, our produce is GMO-free and grown without synthetic pesticides, herbicides, or fungicides — and we make sure it stays that way, even for crops  that are tricky to grow naturally!

Dairy & Eggs

This week’s options include:

  • Grass-fed, organic, non-homogenized, low heat pasteurized milk (A1/A2 and A2/A2 this week), butter, buttermilk, cheese (cottage cheese, cottage cheese kefir, Gorgonzola Dolce, Grana Padano, Parmigiano Reggiano, and GGC sharp cheddar), kefir (plain or vanilla), yogurt (plain or vanilla), and whipping cream. 

  • Chicken and Duck eggs this week! Our eggs are hand harvested and cleaned. Our chickens are raised on not simply organic but also a soy free grain mix along with their free range diet. There really is nothing like the consistency and flavor of these delectable treats from heritage breeds . . . we bring out the connoisseurs!

Meat Availability

This week’s options (while supplies last) include:

  • Beef Prime Steaks: Filet, NY Strip, Ribeye, Sirloin, Sirloin tip, Tri-tip!

  • Beef Savory Roasts, Steaks & Ribs: Brisket (plenty large enough for smoking), Chuck, Chuck Arm, Round (top, bottom, eye, and full), Flat Iron, Mock Tenderloin, and Rump & Sirloin Tip Roasts and Steaks. 

  • Beef Grill Options: Ground Beef—approx. 85% lean, Ground Chuck—approx. 89% lean, and Ground Round—approx. 90% lean. Beef Patties—approx. 85% lean (3 or 4 pk)! We're also carrying The Brooklyn Hot Dog Company dogs: All Beef or Beef & Pork! Buy two or more packages for a 10% discount (see our boxes on our pre-order form)!

  • Beef Stew & Organ Meat Options: Stew Meat (limited supply), Soup bones and Organ Meats, including cheeks, heart, kidney, liver, oxtail, tongue, and more! 

  • Chicken (fresh and frozen options): Whole, Cut-ups (breast—boneless / skinless, thighs, leg quarters, and drums—a 10% discount if you buy 2 pkgs or more of leg quarters and drums on special--$4.99/lb while supplies last!!). We also have Ground Chicken! And, chicken organ meat (including: backs, necks, feet, liver, and gizzard)! We are out of our famous Sweet Italian Chicken Sausage this week but hope to have it back soon!

    • Pork Roasts: Like pulled pork? We have both the Pork Butt and the Picnic Roasts fresh frozen (about 2.5 to >8 lbs each).
